Lakeside Beach and Marina, South Lake Tahoe |
I've putting off writing about my Lake Tahoe adventures for so long, but since summer break is officially here I have more time to indulge in being active on this blog a little more. If you wanna know more about all about one of my favorite places in the upper west coast, feel free to scroll down below.
I went on my trip to California last year around this month, and as soon as we landed, people were telling me that we were going to go on a roadtrip the next day. I didn't even know where we were headed, and I was super jet lagged. So getting on a roadtrip really wasn't something I was looking forward to. I ended up being the designated driver for a THREE HOUR LONG trip, which by the way, no one told me it was going to be taking that long.
The drive up here was basically a suicide mission. I've never seen such a steep and semi-dangerous road since our road trips up to Baguio City. I don't even know how people get up and down there alive, especially since none of the sides have railings/barricades, and Filipinos are basically trash drivers (I'm just telling the truth, don't hate me). But yeah, I had the same feeling going up Lake Tahoe towards Emerald Lake's Viewpoint. The winding turns are so sharp and since it's a two-way road, you literally feel like you're going to crash into the vehicle on the other side every time you're passing. But aside from the drive, Emerald Lake's look out point is probably the most breathtaking scenic views I've seen in a while.
Kudos to my Uncle Vince, who was my eager photographer, though none of these shots really do the magnificence of Lake Tahoe any justice.
The view down at Lakeside Beach was really something special during the sunset and sunrise.
If any of you are interested in visiting Northern California, I highly recommend giving Lake Tahoe a visit. There are so many things that you can do, especially if you're an outdoors person. And even if you're not the type to enjoy hiking and canoeing, there's a bunch of things to do in the boardwalk. There's plenty of restaurants to hit up and there's even a casino if you're into that sort of thing. In my opinion, Lake Tahoe is definitely a family friendly place to take your children to and even have fun as adults at the same time. So if you ever come by the West Coast, you should definitely add Lake Tahoe as one of your destinations.
