The Disneyland Experience

20.7.18
This month, I went on a week-long vacation to Southern California and one of the places I visited is the most overrated park in the history of amusement parks-- Disneyland. Why do I say it's overrated you ask? Here's just a few reasons why.

1. THE SIZE.

The park felt so freaking small. I could spend a day at this park and I would've already been sick of roaming around each section of the place twice.

2. THE EXPERIENCE.
I don't know if it's just me, but it really didn't give me the same "Disney" feeling that I used to have when I was a kid. Granted, this may only be because I've already reached adulthood and have grown out of my Disney phase. Or it may be because the experience was just a let down overall. Disney characters were somewhat hard to spot. Didn't even see Mickey Mouse at all. Some rides felt very outdated and some just didn't fit in with my childhood at all. Though I love Pixar, their parade was really watered down and not too exciting compared to the parades at Walt Disney World.

3. THE COST.
I know that Disney parks are astounding with the prices they hold for tickets and food. But to be honest, for what it's worth I felt like it was just a waste of my money and time.

4. FIREWORKS.
If you don't know, this is what people often stay late at Disney for. THE FIREWORKS. Why? BECAUSE IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE MAGICAL. But at Disneyland, it's not. Unless you're paying more dollars for reserved seating to watch the fireworks show, you're not seeing much of anything. A bunch of massive trees obstruct the view of the castle from where you would be standing if you don't have reserved seats, which is ridiculous if you ask me.

As you can see here, you can barely see the castle in the background because of the trees blocking the view.
I really wanted to like Disneyland. I really did. But after having been to Walt Disney World in Orlando, I just can't appreciate what Disneyland has to offer. Because while we were in Orlando, the whole experience was magical. Disney World is composed of four parks (Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios (formerly Disney's MGM studios), and EPCOT). I visited all of four (plus Downtown Disney) and their fireworks displays are all magical and beautiful, and there are no trees obstructing your view.

Cinderella's castle is more than twice the size of Sleeping Beauty's and again, THERE ARE NO TREES OBSTRUCTING YOUR VIEW (as you can tell, them Disneyland trees really had me triggered). There were characters left and right, and you could even get an autograph from all of them. I think what made Disney World so exciting is the fact that the park was very detailed and ultimately more well-planned out than Disneyland seemed to be. And before you even tell me "but it's the original park designed and overlooked by Walt Disney himself," shut up and sit down because:

YEAH, I KNOW and that's why I'm disappointed.

Here's one thing that I liked though - Star Wars. But that's it.

Will I ever go visit again? Hell, no. If you're looking into amusement parks in SoCal, better hit up Universal Studios instead because it's BY FAR better than Disney (especially if you're a teen or a young adult). And it has the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, which is already even better.

xx,
